Hates My Father Also (LS51)

          'Last Sermon of Jesus'

John 15:23 "He who hates Me hates My Father also."
Our Lord Jesus was sent by the Father and He acted in obedience in words and deeds as a Son. Therefore, whoever hates Jesus actually hates the Father as well.
John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner."

     The World hated Jesus
John 7:7 "The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil."
The world hates our Lord for He exposed their evil works.
Mat 10:22 "And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved."

      The Jews hated Jesus
Mat 21:45-46 Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they perceived that He was speaking of them. But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they feared the multitudes, because they took Him for a prophet.
The religious leaders hated Jesus because He exposed their sinful and evil deeds (Mat 23)
John 8:42, 44 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me... You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it."

   Many disciples left Jesus
John 6:56, 60, 66 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.".. Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, "This is a hard saying; who can understand it?".. From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.
Many of Jesus' disciples left Him when He told them to eat His flesh and to drink His blood. They hated the idea because of their lack of knowledge and understanding. It is a metaphorical reference to eating the Bread of Life and drinking the cup of communion.
Similarly, many Christians turned their backs on our Lord Jesus because they hated His teachings, which in the flesh, seems difficult to obey. (Please also read Mat 5-7)

When we hate any teaching of Jesus, we hate God the Father.
Mat 19:27-28 Then Peter answered and said to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?"
Our Lord wants us to surrender everything to Him, so that we can obey His words and do His will. Then, just like His disciples, He can anoint and empower us to do great exploits to His glory.

Heb 9:28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
Unfortunately, many Christians are satisfied with just having their sins cleansed, but forgetting that we have to work out our salvation with fear and trembling by keeping true His words and eagerly awaiting His appearing.

Brethren,  therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,    (Phil 2:12-15)
